When I bought the car for $600 in 1978, I didn't know what it was. I thought that I was buying an SS Camaro convertible that need a lot of work, which it did. The original plan was to do the car in triple black with a gold bumblebee stripe. When I started working on it, I found traces of a blue bumblebee stripe under a couple of layers of white paint, so I started doing some research. I was able to locate the original owner from the name on the Protecto-plate, and he verified that it was a Pace Car that he had purchased locally from Berger Chevrolet. It does not have the original engine, but it is an MU block.
